Inde Mulanje
Inde-Mulanje is a social enterprise focused on improving sustainable options for smallholder farmers living around Mt Mulanje. These might come from crops grown on farms or collected from native plants and fungi in the wild. Inde-Mulanje will support the processing of value-added products from these plants and connections to wealthier markets, increasing incomes for local community members so that they have less need to use the natural woodlands unsustainably.
Empowering Communities While Protecting Nature
Sustainably Harvested from Mt Mulanje
The unique resources of Mt Mulanje Biosphere Reserve are invaluable and need protection from overharvesting and unsustainable use. By providing a market for sustainable natural resources , harvested by local mountain communities, Inde-Mulanje is giving a financial incentive to protect and manage these resources well. This is a win-win situation where the community and the environment benefit together.
